Our Wines

Single Vineyard Margelina

Planted in 1921, our Margelina vineyard is one of the very few remaining ungrafted centenarian vineyards in Cyprus. A living witness to the island’s history, rooted on the “Windy Hill” of Agios Nikolaos, overlooking the Troodos mountains.

The organically certified vineyard is predominantly planted with Mavro, alongside 5 other indigenous Cypriot varieties.

For nearly a century, this vineyard endured wars, abandonment, climate change, and shifting wine trends. Just as it was close to being forgotten, the vineyard was rediscovered, carefully restored, and given new life. Today, she provides the grapes for our Single Vineyard Margelina, a wine that speaks of resilience, heritage, and place.

A true gem of Cypriot viticulture.

– Fruity, medium bodied, medium tannins –

Description

Grape Type: 85% Mavro, 10% Xynisteri, 5% other indigenous varieties (including Maratheftiko, Yiannoudi, Kanella and Ofthalmo)- Organically Certified Agios Nikolaos Vineyard.

Vinification: Single Vineyard Margelina is a field blend led by Mavro and grown at 950m in Agios Nikolaos. Fermented with indigenous yeasts using the pied de cuvée method in stainless steel and then aged for six months in used oak, it’s a medium-bodied red with plenty of depth. With only around 900 bottles produced, it’s a small, characterful expression of Cyprus’ native varieties.

Tasting notes: A delicate mix of cherries, strawberries, blackcurrants, red pepper, liquorice and preserved red fruit.

Food pairing: Perfect for traditional meze but also with salmon, hard cheese and roasted vegetable dishes.
